chemistry in action - Detergents
A result of high dissolving power, the logically happening water all time consists of dissolved matters, majorly ionic substances. Hard water has specific metal ions like Ca2+ and Mg2+. These ions react along with soap. (Sodium salts of stearic and associated natural acids), to make a curdy precipitate of magnesium and calcium salts. This precipitate sticks to clothing and blocks the capability of soaps to take away oil and grease from fabrics. Synthetic detergents are extremely similar to the salts of fatty acids originate in soap, separately from that they are manufactured chemically from materials others as compared to the animal fats.
