Calculate the top heat loss coefficient, Physics

Assignment Help:

Calculate the top heat-loss coefficient for a solar collector with a single glass cover having the following specifications (neglect edge effects), also calculate the ambient air temperature:

Overall heat-loss coefficient                                             3.46 W/(m2.K)

Convection heat-transfer coefficient (hc,p-c)                    2.65 W/(m2.K)

Spacing between the plate and the cover                          2.5 cm

Plate emissivity                                                                 0.2

Glass emissivity                                                                0.88

Back insulation thickness                                                 5 cm

Conductivity of back insulation material                       0.045 W/(m.K)

Mean plate temperature                                                  373 K

Temperature of cover                                                      298 K

Collector tilt                                                                    45o

Wind heat transfer coefficient                                   10 W/(m2.K)
