Calculate the feed in Drilling Operation

Calculate the feed in m/min if a drill makes 200 revolutions per minute and penetrates to a distance of 3 mm per revolution.

Solution

N = 200 rpm

Tool feed/rev. = 3 m/rev.

∴ Feed in m/min = (feed/rev × N) / 1000

= (3 × 200)/ 1000

= 0.6 m/min
