Assignment Help:

Q. Benefits of traditional hard disks and CD-ROM?

CD-ROM is suitable for distribution of large amounts of data to a large number of users. CD-ROMs are a general medium these days for distributing information. Compared with traditional hard disks CD-ROM has 3 benefits:

1. Large data/information storage capability.

2. Optical disk together with information stored on it can be mass replicated inexpensively dissimilar a magnetic disk. Database on a magnetic disk has to be reproduced by copying data from one disk to second disk employing two disk drives.

3. Optical disk is removable allowing disk itself to be used for archival storage. Most of the magnetic disks are non-removable. Information on non-removable magnetic disks should first be copied on tape before disk drive/disk can be used to store new information.
