Balanced forces - problems with sitting still, Physics

Assignment Help:

Example 1 - A bird feeder in your yard has a total mass of 3.0 kilograms and is supported as shown. What is the force on the top wire?

The bird feeder is not falling so the forces must be balanced - no resultant force in any direction. Looking up and down, the only force upwards is the force on the top wire and the only force downward is the weight of the bird feeder. So the free body diagram would look like:

Example 2 - If you pull on a 20 kg  crate with 20 N, the crate will not move, because this force just balances the frictional force. If a little more force will start the crate moving what would the coefficient of friction have to be?
