Are there different types of optical ports?

Optical ports can be divided into two types: pressure and potting. Potting optical ports are small more than a hollow tube into that the fibers are introduced and encapsulated along with some adhesive, assembly a block to be later polished.

Pressure optical ports are extra sophisticated and include seals to grip tightly, using a tool, the harness of fibers. Always glass fibers are prepared in potting optical ports as solid core fibers use pressure optical ports. PMMA fibers can contain the common end in either.
