Q. Are there differences between the male and female skeletons?
Many general differences exist between female and male skeletons. Male skeleton is normally larger and heavier than female skeleton. Bones of the skull are generally more graceful and less angular in female skeleton. A female also has a shorter, wider breastbone and slimmer wrists. There are many differences between pelvis of a female and a male, which are related to childbirth andpregnancy. Female pelvis is shallower and wider than male pelvis. Females have an enlarged pelvic outlet and a wider, more circular pelvic inlet. Angle between pubic bones is much sharper in males, resulting in a narrower, more circular, almost heart-shaped pelvis.
