Android operating system is an open source, Linux-based Smartphone OS. It is the world's most popular mobile platform with more than 700,000 applications and 25 billion downloads. Applications are usually developed in the Java programming language using different tools, but mainly the Android Software Development Kit. The Android platform has also grown to become a favourite among mobile developers. According to IDC [3], Android is growing rapidly and by Q3 2012 it has about 75 % market share of the smart phones globally. This makes it a good platform for developing applications.
