Access Networks and Physical Media

Access  networks  are the  physical  links(S) that connect  an end  systems to its edge  router. Which  is the  first router on a path  from the  end systems. The  access networks thus  provides the infrastructure to  connect the so called  customer premises  into the network infrastructure. Figure 2.3 shows  several types  of access links are highlighted in thick shaded lines.
