Research Question:

Percentage of students who drank a can, bottle, or glass of soda or pop (not including diet soda or diet pop) at least 1 time per day during the seven days before the survey

To complete a project you will have to complete the following steps:

1)      Study the research question and write a short description about it (roughly 75 to 100 words).

2)      Collecting Data and  Summarizing Data -

- Study the website given to you and choose a random sample from the population

a)      Define your population and sample.  Describe the advantages and disadvantages of choosing a sample. State how you chose sample members and give reason for the same.

b)      Your sample size must have at least 30 from your population. 

c)      Use frequency table to summarize the data you have collected. Explain the reason for choosing the structure and design of the frequency table.

3)      Presenting Data -

a)     Use graphs and charts to highlight some of the findings in your research. Use at least 3 graphs and charts to present the data.

b)     Where applicable calculate mean, median and mode.

c)     For some of your findings elaborate on the meaning of these averages and explain using a drawing whether the averages display a symmetrical distribution or skewed distribution.

d)     Find the standard deviation and discuss the consistency of your data.  Discuss the spread in your data.

4)      Analysis

a)      Explain the difference between parameters and statistics.  What are the measures of dispersion?  Explain each one of them.

b)      Do you think the results are a good representative of the entire population?

c)      Create confidence interval at the 90% level.

d)     To guarantee a 95% confidence level, what sample size is required?

e)      Do you think you need to modify the sample you started with?

f)       Do you think the nature of data you are dealing with is qualitative or quantitative?

g)      Are the data continuous or discrete?

5)      Conclusion

Can you recommend an action plan to deal with the problems identified in your survey? Elaborate.
