Supply Chain for many years working in all facets of the chain from the supplier to the customer. The more self aware a company is about where there are broken process within their supply chain the better equipped they will be to address those areas. If they determine that they do everything well accept move freight between nodes in their network they can solve for that by outsourcing to a company that handles freight as a core competency. With this type of self-awareness and weakness identification a business can compete very well against their competitors that are less self-aware. D2D used customer data to determine if they were meeting their quality expectations and determine where they were issues that needed improvement (Oakland, 2003).
