Question: The short story I chose was " A Good Man is Hard to Find." Upon reading this, I have identified this as third person. More so, I believe it was third person limited. It was told through the grandmother's perspective. You was not informed of any happenings before the fact. The story followed her inner thoughts and feelings. She was present the whole time. The point of view was not all knowing, because you only found out who the misfit was when she found out. The grandmother shrieked. She scrambled to her feet and stood staring. "You're The Misfit!" she said. "I recognized you at once!"(Oconnor, 2013, p.117).
This is the best used in my opinion. It allowed for a bit of mystery. If it was third person all knowing, then too many details would be given. It would read that the misfit saw the car and approached. It basically adds to the unknowing. It also gave you a chance to understand the grandmother and how she is a a person. It leaves it up to the reader to decide instead of her in first person with a biased view of herself and the men she encounters in her life. It also allows you do judge her actions in going down to the old house.
Your replies to classmates should be at least a paragraph in length and made with an eye to expand, clarify, defend, and/or refine their thoughts. Consider asking questions to further meaningful conversation.
