First, for each team, you will be asked to read at least one empirical article. One of the most important things you can do when reading is to take concise but informative notes over the material. The review must include a brief overview of the prior literature, research question(s), data source. what was studied, and the conclusions. You should provide your own summary. You also should provide two or three questions for the empirical article chosen by your team.

Please keep in mind that this is an article review, not a summary of the entire article. It should NOT exceed two single-spaced pages. Second. groups will be responsible for presenting, asking questions and leading the discussion related to the article (roughly 10-15 minutes presentation and discussion). The discussion should introduce the class to the topic and raise criminology-related issues pertaining to the research topic. I ask that each team must develop a few questions to stimulate discussion—these can include questions about assumptions made by the reading, connections to current events articles (e.g., newspaper articles), criticisms about the reading, policy implications, etc.. Note that all team members must be in class and on time.

Please make sure that each team must send me the following documents one day before the presentation date; A copy of an article chosen by each tem, Article Summaries and Critique, The PowerPoint presentation files to the professor. Note that any group which fails to do this in a timely manner will be penalized 10 points. In addition, any member who is absent and does not participate in the group presentation in class will be penalized 50 points.
