ASSIGNMENT: Writing to Persuade
Now that you have explored the nature of documentary, you will apply this knowledge to a critical viewing and analysis of a documentary of your choice and write a persuasive or argumentative essay.
First
You will view a documentary of your choice that deals with issues you are passionate about and/or invites strong argument and opinion - that is, it needs to be something you have an opinion and can argue about.

Second
You will write a 1000 - 2000 word persuasive essay about the issue raised in the documentary. You will need to come up with your own essay topic and thesis statement. There are several links after this one that will help you with writing a persuasive essay:

writing a conclusion,

creating a bibliography.

In the first paragraph of your essay (the one after your introductory paragraph), you need to
summarize the documentary, and
provide the answers to the following questions: Author, Audience, Message of the documentary [NOTE: Your answers need to be integrated smoothly into the paragraph NOT just answered one after another!]

You need to be careful when you quote a source, that you integrate the quotation into your essay, rather than just placing it in between two sentences.
