Assessment Instructions (Part B)
Read the Case Study document supplied. Analyse this document using GVV, ensuring you understand the ethical dilemma that the situation poses.
Write a response to the following elements based on the case study. You should submit these as a single Word document, through Turnitin.
Case Analysis using the GVV approach (500 words):
Analyse the story, applying the GVV concepts we have covered in this subject.
Identify the ethical issue and dilemma faced by the character named in the story.
Discuss the values at stake and the likely rationalisations of the key parties.
Explain how this situation impacts each of the stakeholders and the organisation.
Describe how you think the main character in this story should give voice to their values. Provide your own reasoning for this.
Propose the actions that this person should take aligned with GVV principles based on their values and purpose.
Script Production (500 words):
Develop a script using your responses in part 1 as a guide. Take the role of the key person in the story and give voice to values. Address the ethical issue in the case.
Very briefly sketch the context for the discussion, who is involved and where it takes place.
Indicate what each of the parties in the story say, in their own words.
Clearly articulate your values and the reasons behind your stance.
Present the rationalisations of the parties in the script.
Include counterarguments to the rationalisations.
Propose specific actions or solutions to address the ethical issue.
Aim for some resolution arising from the discussion(s).
Reflection (500 words):
Reflect carefully on the process of applying the GVV framework to the case, by answering the following questions:
What was the most difficult part of this task, from your perspective? How did you resolve this to enable you to complete your work?
Have you experienced a situation affecting your values, either in personal or work life, that required you to consider a course of action. Could GVV have assisted you in doing this? Please explain in what ways.
How has the experience of applying GVV to the case study and your reflection influenced your understanding of ethical decision-making in your current and future workplace, life and career?
Ideally, your reflection should consider how your original thinking about the Case Study (as captured in Part A) changed as you applied GVV to the case study.
