Task overview
This assessment is worth 30% of your final grade and requires you to produce an advocacy report. Building on the analysis completed in Assessment 2, you will write a persuasive report recommending specific changes to your chosen Australian social policy. Your goal is to convince your reader why these changes are needed and how they can be achieved to promote social justice.
Instructions
You must choose the same social policy you analysed in Assessment 2.
Social policy
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) - Funding and support for people living with a disability
The Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) - Settlement services for refugees and migrants
Closing the Gap - Health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander peoples
In your report you should draw on the required readings from weeks 8, G, and 10 to:
Show an understanding of how social policies are developed and evolve over time (week 8)
Demonstrate knowledge of the role of different levels of government in shaping social policies (week 9)
Support your advocacy plan with references to relevant models of advocacy practice (week 10)
Sources
Unit readings: You must use the required readings from weeks 8, 9 and 10.
Primary source: Without repeating your analysis from Assessment 2, you should refer to your policy document again to highlight key gaps in the policy. Get world-class assignment help from subject experts.
Media articles: You may wish to reference some media articles to show awareness of current critiques of policy failings.
Other scholarly sources: You should reference at least two additional peer-reviewed journal articles. These should complement rather than replace your engagement with the other listed sources. You will find some sources to kick-start your research on the Readings page in Moodle.
It is essential to demonstrate engagement with the unit materials throughout your essay. References to external sources should complement-not replace-your use of unit content. While clear communication is important, this is not an English writing test. A report that shows strong understanding and application of unit concepts, theories, and materials-even with some grammatical errors-will score higher, and be more persuasive, than a well-written report that lacks meaningful connection to the unit content.
Referencing
You must include a reference list in APA 7 format.
