Problem: Issue Analysis/Reflection
Choose 1 of the following topics to discuss in an organized, multi-paragraph composition of 450 to 550 words. You may write more, but do not exceed 700 words.
I. Critical thinking: Teenaged parenthood, divorce, and poverty all have serious consequences for children, yet are preventable. Select one issue and discuss your point of view concerning actions to reduce the incidence of the issue in Canada.
II. Creative thinking: Write a narrative about divorce, abuse, or poverty from the perspective of a child, parent, caregiver, sibling, grandparent, aunt, or uncle. You should base your narrative on what you have learned during this unit, through independent research, your own experience, and/or your imagination. Be sure you demonstrate the impact of the divorce, abuse, or poverty on the family.
III. Theoretical and analytical thinking: Poverty leaves a poor legacy to those children who experience it. Using one of the social science theories we have studied, analyze how poverty persists. You should also suggest strategies to enable individuals and families in Canada to escape poverty.
