Write a critical commentary using the excerpt selected from the novel The Color Purple.

Learning Outcome - Understanding the concept of style:

Analyse literary techniques in a named novel.
Evaluate how style conveys the author's ideas in a named novel.

Your critical commentary should focus on analysing the literacy and stylistic techniques used by the author and how they convey or explore ideas. The commentary should focus on close analysis and include reference to use of imagery and figurative language (metaphors, similes etc), register and syntax and how these can be linked to characterisation.
