we as nurses should give mothers benefits of both breastfeeding and bottle feeding. We should be giving mom specific instructions on age specific nutritional requirements for both breastfeeding and bottle feeding babies. Teaching the mother how to keep a record of feedings and stressing to her that the younger the baby the more specific the recorded information should be (Jarvis, 2016). Being a new mom is already stressful enough.

We as nurses can alleviate some of that stress by educating the mother on the ins and outs of breastfeeding and bottle feeding. I believe that it is our job to advocate for both baby and mother. We should give these patients the information needed to help them make the best decision for their livelihood and circumstance and then form our assessment and goals based on that specific information
