Q1: Answer the following questions:
1.1 Identify two (2) types of skills or knowledge required to work effectively in the construction industry.
1.2 Explain three (3) ways that identifying the right skills can help a person work effectively in the construction industry. You may refer to career plan resources when identifying skills for different construction roles.
Satisfactory response
Q2: Answer the following questions.
2.1 Mention the job roles relevant to the different job tasks given in column 1 of the table.

Q3: Answer the following questions:
3.1. Explain two (2) benefits of working as part of a team on a construction site.
3.2. List five (5) techniques that support effective teamwork in a construction environment. Creating a career plan can also help develop teamwork and communication skills required by employers.
Q4: Describe two (2) techniques that can be used to determine:
? your own skills, and
? the skills required for a chosen construction career.
Q5: Answer the following questions:
5.1 Explain two (2) reasons why environmental and resource efficiency requirements are important in the construction industry.
5.2 List three (3) common environmental or resource efficiency requirements that apply to construction workplaces. You may also refer to concepts related to environmental engineering for additional background.
Assessment Task 2 - Skills Test
Skills Test:
This assessment task requires the student to work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry.
This includes:
• Working effectively as a team member to plan and carry out a construction task
• Collaborating with team members to review the team's purpose, roles, responsibilities, goals, plans, and objectives
• Listing one's own existing skills as well as the additional skills needed for a specific tradesperson or skilled operator role in the construction industry
• Identifying environmental and resource efficiency requirements applicable to entry-level construction roles
• Preparing fundamental reports on an environmental hazard and a resource efficiency issue
Workplace requirements and job specification
The trainer/assessor or training organisation is required to provide a workplace or a close simulation of the workplace environment to replicate construction workplace conditions and standards, materials, activities, responsibilities, procedures, safety requirements and environmental considerations to each student.
Task description:
In this task, the student is required to complete a set of activities to demonstrate skills to work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry. These activities are as follow:
• Activity 1: Work effectively in a team (Plan and perform a construction support task)
• Activity 2: Investigate construction industry employment pathways.
• Activity 3: Identify environmental and resource efficiency requirements.
• Activity 4: Prepare report on environmental hazard and resource efficiency issue
Activity 1: Work effectively in a team (Plan and perform a construction support task)
You must work with two team members and your supervisor to complete a simple construction support task at a workplace or realistic simulation.
Task: "Prepare and set up a work area for a construction activity"
The work area includes:
• mixed waste (cardboard, timber offcuts, plastic wrap)
• dust/sand
• a small puddle of water near the entry
• leftover materials (timber length, cement bag)
You must complete:
Part A - Planning and team role review
1. Participate in planning the job steps in order with your team.
2. Review the team purpose, roles, responsibilities, goals, plans and objectives.
3. Complete Template 1 - Team Work Task Plan.
Part B - Perform task under direction + resolve a team issue
4. Perform the task following supervisor instructions and site guidelines.
5. Resolve one (1) real issue that impedes the team's performance (e.g., missing bin, unclear roles, task taking longer than expected, disagreement, access restriction).
6. Complete Template 2 - Team Issue & Solution Record.
Assessor Instructions:
• Arrange a workplace or realistic simulation with standard site rules, procedures, safety requirements and environmental considerations.
• Allocate a team of 3 (student + 2 team members).
• Provide the student three (3) supervisor instructions during the task (e.g., waste segregation instruction, sequence priority, isolating puddle area).
• Observe performance and complete Observation Checklist A1.

Activity 2: Investigate construction industry employment pathways.
This activity requires you to research and investigate construction industry employment pathways.
To complete this activity, you are required to:
• Complete the steps given in the ‘Checklist 2' provided.
• Complete Template 5 and submit it to the trainer/assessor.
• While completing each step, you must place a tick mark against each step given in the checklist once completed.
• Your trainer/assessor (Supervisor) will observe you performing this activity and sign off the checklist after completing each step.
Activity 3: Identify environmental and resource efficiency requirements.
This activity requires you to identify environmental and resource efficiency requirements.
To complete this activity, you are required to:
• Complete the steps given in the ‘Checklist 3' provided.
• Complete Template 6 and submit it to the trainer/assessor.
• While completing each step, you must place a tick mark against each step given in the checklist once completed.
• Your trainer/assessor (Supervisor) will observe you performing this activity and sign off the checklist after completing each step.
Step 1: Identify the environmental requirements that apply to entry-level construction roles.
• Use internet and search two (2) environmental requirement applicable to entry level construction roles.
• Document the identified environmental requirements using Template 6.
Step 2: Identify the resource efficiency requirements that apply to entry-level construction roles.
• Use internet and search two (2) resource efficiency requirements applicable to entry level construction roles.
• Document the identified resource efficiency requirements using Template 6.
