Question

If there were no changes in wing shape influencing stridulation within a population, there would be consequences. Natural selection relies on the presence of variation to drive adaptation and evolution. Without any variation in wing shape affecting stridulation, species in the population would all have similar wing shapes and stridulation abilities. This results to the population's limited capacity to adapt to changing environmental conditions. This lack of adaptability, coupled with reduced genetic diversity, could make the population more vulnerable to diseases, environmental changes, and extinction.
