White women were painting landscapes, still life paintings, and portraits for a long time, but when the white male Impressionist artists started doing it, the men were considered "radical" for painting landscapes, still life paintings, and portraits.

Why don't you think it was radical when the women were doing it? Can you think of other ways in which the work of women and minorities is appropriated by the dominant group (white men and in some cases white women) and then seen as interesting and noteworthy?
