Job lived a righteous life, however he still faced intense suffering. He didn't know why God allowed good people to suffer, whether God is just in a human perspective, and why God does nothing when he or others are in pain. I think that it would be hard to understand how God would function and what he wants humans to do. Fairness towards pain and suffering might not be fair to the individual, but could be in the greater scheme of things.
