Write a 1,500-word research essay answering one of the question:
Why did the asylum become the most popular way to treat mental illness during thenineteenth century?
Your research essay must be logically structured with an introduction, a body and a conclusion.
The introduction places your argument in context, gives a clear order of ideas and ends with a thesis statement. Your essay must be an innovative and original response to the question and include your own research into the topic. Supporting sources used must be both primary (historical) and secondary (critical) material.

The body of the essay must be organized into paragraphs, which have topic sentences corresponding to the order of ideas given in the introduction. The conclusion must be consistent with the thesis statement and contain no new material.
Appropriate use is to be made of cohesive devices and the essay must be easy to read. Essays should be formatted according to the Hult guidelines (APA).
