Why are some bodies valued more than others? White women and mainstream liberal feminism is a white-centric system that ignores intersectionality and prevents collective action by focusing on the white woman's burden. Liberal feminism aims to achieve gender equality through political and legal reform within the framework of liberal democracy. However, women's liberation will never happen under this system; liberal feminism prioritizes assimilation into overarching power structures, like the heteropatriarchy that continues to enable homonationalism. White liberal feminists naturalize violence to Black, Indigenous, and minority women and girls and are largely absent from public debates, especially in the context of sexual violences. The heteropatriarchy in place uses the bodies of minority women and girls as a site of colonization which only further allows the system of violence to continue.
