A carceral society is one in which people are being monitored almost everyone, including from GPS devices, and phones. The example we are given in the reading that involved a teen running away with an older man, gives up insight into how GPS can be beneficial. Just like with GPS associated with our phones, almost everywhere we go has CCTV's watching. Gas stations, grocery stores, and many other places that people are attracted to, have CCTV for reasons which we can already guess. GPS and CCTV both aid in visualizing where someone is and what they were doing around that time frame. I know in many criminals shows we see the portrayal of CCTV, along with GPS records to show proof of evidence that someone was in area around a specific time frame. This can ultimately lead to an arrest with substantial evidence putting the suspect in the area at the time.
