Problem
None of us will ever be able to escape stress, so why not make it work for us?
Take a look at the Undergraduate Stress Questionnaire and select three stressors you've experienced in the last six months.
Now, go to the American Institute of Stress to read about 50 common signs and symptoms of stress and more about how stress affects your body.
1. Which of these symptoms have you experienced? List at least three.
2. Discuss at least three ways in which stress affects your body.
Now let's think about how stress affects your psychology. Kelly McGonigal discussed how reinterpreting stress - as in that racing heart is not a symptom of anxiety, but rather getting you ready for a challenge - can improve your health and cognitive outcomes. Now, let's use some of her specific suggestions.
Check out this link from Harvard and the seven suggestions (especially the first one) from McGonigal's book, The Upside of Stress.
1. Discuss how you can use at least three of these tools to address each of the three stressors you noted before.
