Max has an assignment coming up in their intro psychology course and has had two midterms already this week while at the same time battling a bit of a cold, so there just isn't time to do the work for this assignment right now. Max is going to ask the instructor for a two-day extension and is positive that they can get the assignment done with an A with those extra 2 days. At the beginning of class, Max goes to speak to the instructor and the instructor is talking to another student. As Max approaches they hear the instructor agreeing to an extension. Max immediately thought, great now the instructor is going to think I overhead and that's why I'm asking for an extension too. Max then starts to think, I bet that other person is just making up an excuse while I have a legitimate reason why I need an extension. What Max doesn't know is that the other student got news yesterday that one of their siblings was in a car accident and that they will be travelling home on the weekend and doesn't really know when they'll be able to come back or have the work ready for their assignment.
