If the contraction from a 6-in to a 3-in ductile iron pipe described in Problem 10.26 was made with a cone angle of 120°, what would the resulting resistance coefficient be? Make a scale drawing of this reducer.

Problem 10.26

Note in Figs. 10.10 and 10.11 that the minimum energy loss for a gradual contraction (K = 0.04 approximately) occurs when the cone angle is in the range of 15° to 40°. Make scale drawings of contractions at both of these extremes for a reduction from a 6-in to a 3-in ductile iron pipe.
