Case Scenario I: Taylor is 7-year-old who is brought to the clinic by her aunt because she has had redness in her right eye for 3 days. Today when she woke up, her right eye was swollen, red, and tender. She denies fever.

Question 1. What should you ask Taylor about her eye?

Case Scenario II: Reese is a 2 year old who comes to the clinic because her parents have noted her left eye deviates nasally more than the right. Her parents have noted Reese squints and tilts her head often and seems to have decreased visual acuity from her left eye. They are concerned about her vision.

Question 1. What relevant questions would you want to know about Reese?
Question 2. What type of exam(s) should you perform?
Question 3. How should you manage Reese?
Question 4. What are the complications if her condition is left untreated?

Case Scenario III: Alex is a 4-year-old male brought into the clinic by his mom because he ran into another classmate playing on the playground. His mouth is bleeding and his front two teeth appear to be loose. On oral exam, he has several dental caries. His vital signs are within normal limits and his weight today is 40 pounds.

His mother says he was coughing and had a runny nose 5 days earlier. On exam, he has a bulging TM. He attends daycare. His past history is significant for Type I Penicillin allergy, and he is up to date on his immunizations. He weighs 33 pounds.
