A 140 kg hockey player skating at -12 m/s runs into the back of a referee that weighs 70 kg and is traveling in the same direction but at only -6 m/s. After the collision the two separate and the player slows to -6 m/s. Assuming momentum is conserved, what will the velocity of the referee be after the collision?
