Case Study: Kimberlee and Daniel have been married for 5 years. They have been trying to start a family for 3 years and Kimberlee has miscarried four times. She is now 32 weeks pregnant and planning for the arrival of their son in 2 months.
Kimberlee awakens during the night and feels that something is wrong. She awakens Daniel when she realizes she is hemorrhaging. They called paramedics and she is transported to the hospital. Kimberlee is emergently taken to surgery and their son is stillborn. Kimberlee's heart stopped twice during the surgery. She is unconscious, unresponsive, and on life support in the intensive care unit. They don't expect her to survive.
