REFLECTION PAPER ASSIGNMENT -

Reflect upon your own thoughts, feelings and experience on our field trip to the state trooper academy and the Bridgeport Correctional Facility as well as the presentation on law enforcement by State Trooper Sgt. Scott.

For the State Trooper academy... research online what are the requirements to be a state trooper. What were your expectations about the academy before the tour? Did the academy compare with your expectations? For the jail tour, what were your expectations BEFORE the tour. For example, what did you think jail would be like? How did you anticipate feeling as you enter the jail? What did you think the jail would look like (i.e., physical structure, inmates, guards, etc.)? Include in your reflection; your observations, feelings and experience after you completed the jail tour. For example, how did the experience compare with your expectations? What did you learn? What will you take away from this experience? Be sure to include in your reflection the experience you had in meeting with the inmate who spoke to us at the end of the tour. Did he confirm or dispel your ideas about people who are in jail and why they are in jail.

Your paper should be no less than 5 pages. Your paper should also address how your feeling have changed or evolved about the US Criminal Justice system based on these experiences. Identify the biggest take-aways from these experiences as it relates to your understanding of the US Criminal Justice System. Feel free to compare the US Criminal Justice to the criminal justice system to your home country .Please be honest in your reflection.
