Question

For this assignment, you would need to conduct a short study using the quasi-structured interview method. Specifically, you will collect data by interviewing your parent(s) (or an uncle, or a grandma, aka anyone at least one generation from you). Once your data collection is complete, you will write a short report of your results. Total word count can be up to 750 words for data (actual responses to the questions) and ALMOST 500 words for the analysis (what conclusions can you draw from the data). Please submit your assignment in PDF/word document formats only. Objective: to identify and compare similarities/differences in major lifespan periods between you and your parents' generation. Additionally, you will need to choose at least one question answer and discuss if the described pattern differs from the WEIRD one in your textbook. Method: quasi-structured interview. SI is a research method employed to collect quantitative data that is more homogeneous and thus allow making comparisons between answers (participants). SI normally uses closed-ended questions. For this assignment you will use exactly same questions that you will 1. Ask your parents and 2. Respond to yourself. This way for each question you will have at least two answers, that that you will compare and report in the paper. Unlike a standard SI, you are allowed to ask your parents additional questions.

Reporting: You will submit both the data (responses to questions, see the template) of you and the person you are interviewing; and the analysis of the data (a brief summary where you identify and compare similarities/differences in major lifespan periods between you and your parents' generation). In the analysis part you can focus more on some specific questions, no need to compare every response. Grading rubric: the assignment will be graded holistically. Educational research demonstrates that strict grading rubrics tend to encourage mediocre work and discourage creativity. You need, however, to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure your paper gets the highest grade possible: every question is asked (and answers are reported); the "weird" aspect is applied to at least one question (and discussed); results are coherent and reported as a short narrative (you can answer each question as a separate abstract, but do not use bullet-points); word count is not exceeded; assignment template is used; the file format is correct; finally, your assignment is submitted on time.
