You are a youth worker working in an afterschool prevention program for at risk children or youth. OR a worker in a residential treatment program, working with inner city youth.

For this assignment you will prepare a youth diversity workshop. The workshop will focus on one of the following anti-bullying, self-esteem building, gang prevention, and GLBTQ2 acceptance and inclusion racism or discrimination awareness and prevention. This assignment has two parts.

Workshop Outline Paper

1. Pick an issue to address from the above list.

2. How will you address the issue in a fun and interactive hands on way? What theory, strategies or techniques are you using when facilitating this workshop?

3. What is the goal and desired therapeutic objectives for facilitating this activity?

4. Include age group, gender and what the workshop is mean to teach or address.

Presentation

Students will come to class and do their workshop or activity with the group. Activities are to be no longer than 25 minutes so you may have to amend or be creative with the activity you choose. Students need to be mindful of prep and clean up time. Presentations are to be at least 10 minutes in length and no longer that 25. Students are to bring supplies and everything that is needed to do the activity for the whole class and the instructor is to be included as well. You will be the actual worker or group leader and your fellow students will be your clients. Students need to be mindful and ready for feelings or triggers that your activity may bring up, pick an activity that is within your scope of practice as a youth worker. Your fellow students will be giving you feedback in the form or a participant survey.
