Billy is an 8-year-old child that has a history of asthma since he was 3 years old. He uses an Albuterol Inhaler PRN and does Nebulizers PRN. He has had increased coughing and wheezing over that last 3 hours with no relief from his albuterol Inhaler.
His mother brought him into the ER one hour ago. He is anxious and restless. His mother is also anxious stating, "He never gets this bad at home." Billy has been admitted for numerous lung related illnesses during the last 3 years. His younger brother was kept home from daycare with a cold.
What data does the nurse need at this time during the initial interview and assessment?

The doctor orders continuous Aerosol Ventolin treatments and Prednisone Q4hr.
