I. Martin Luther King, Jr stated "The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals... intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character--that is the goal of true education." A well-rounded education encompasses far more than simply learning a set of curriculum standards. In many cases, a well-educated individual derives a moral compass based on their educational experiences. From a Christian worldview perspective, what should be the purpose of schooling?

Titus 2:7-8 (ESV) "Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us." Christianity in public education is certainly a topic that can be somewhat intimidating to talk about. However, sometimes it only takes leading by example for others (students, parents, co-workers) to take notice. You do not need to teach Christianity to have a Christian influence in the classroom. Reflect on your own values. How will you model these values to your students and how will that enhance the educational experience of your students?
