1. I agree that it can be challenging to step away from the content of a sessions and focus on the feelings related to the content. As indicated in some of our discussions, focusing on feelings is not an exclusive approach, and I believe that most of the time we do need to focus on content. That being said, what value to you see in occasionally focusing on feelings versus content?

2. What plans do you have moving forward to continue working on the development and strengthening of your basic counseling skills?

3. It is important to be sure that we do not engage in value-based counseling and that we diligently keep our own values and opinions from interfering with our ability to work objectively with clients. How do you plan to monitor the impact your own values and beliefs have on your work?

4. What are some communication skills you feel more comfortable with now compared to the start of the course? Why do you feel more comfortable with these skills and how will they assist you in your work as a professional counselor?

5. For the sake of hearing about communication within a slightly different, but very applicable perspective, I have attached a TedTalk for you to review. As you watch this video, think about the key skills that are mentioned in this video that are pertinent to our work as professional counselors. What stands out to you as skills that can be a bit more challenging or elusive to develop?
