Read Chapters Savage. In this section of the book, the writer discusses each of the following listening skills: paraphrase, productive questions, perception check, expression of feelings and emotions, fogging, negative inquiry, and behavior description.

For each situational example below, respond using one or more of the listening skills to try to understand the person speaking. For example, what might you say to this person, or what nonverbal clues might you look for in this circumstance? After you determine one or more possible responses, explain why your use of the skills is appropriate and how it might help. Obviously, there will be more than one correct answer, and the point is to be comfortable with the various listening skills as you relate them to different situations. Your response to each situation should be included in the same document. The document should be 1 to 2 pages in length.
