Question 1:Directions:

This is an observation/interview paper of a child in middle childhood (Age 7-12) focusing on their physical, cognitive and psychosocial changes (as described below) and develop a paper. The paper should have an introduction, at least 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Physical Aspects:
Their height and weight changes over the past years.
Have they ever been on a diet or tried to lose weight? (don't ask if you think they struggle with this)
How many teeth have they lost?
What do they do after they get home from school?
What kinds of physical activities are they involved in?
How many hours a day do they spend watching TV or Netflix and what programs?
Cognitive Aspects:
Give an example of their spatial thinking: "How long does it take to get to school?"
Ask them to pretend they had 3 pants, 3 shirts, 3 shoes: "How many different outfits can you make with them?"
Perform the liquid conservation task ONLY if subject is 7 years old
Ask about what they like and dislike about school?
Have them tell you their favorite joke
Psychosocial Aspects:
Assess their sense of self-worth and self-esteem by asking them: "What do you do well? What does the child wish she or he could do better?"
What are their interests? What do they want to be when they grow up?
"What is your definition of a friend?"
Have you experienced any type of peer pressure (positive or negative): "Did anyone try and talk you into something you didn't want to do?"
Determine how much peer vs. parental influence is important to them: "Which is more important and why?" (If mom and friend were shopping which sweater would you pick - the one mom chose or your friend?) You can come up with different examples.
Give an example of coregulation: "What does the child's parents let her do now that they wouldn't let her do a year ago?"
How do they get along with their siblings?
What type of family do they live in? "traditional", blended, single, etc.
Specific stressors: "What kinds of things make you upset?"
