Overview

For this problem, you will conduct an interview with an administrator or manager in your organization or one that is local to you. Choose an administrator or manager that would have ample experience in analyzing and addressing organizational issues. It is preferred that the interview be conducted in person or virtually, but by phone is permitted if necessary.

The purpose of this problem is to help you hear from others who have experience in a leadership role regarding their perspective on analyzing and addressing problems within their organization. This information will assist you in developing your action plan to address the organizational problem you have been analyzing thus far in the course.

Instructions

Before your interview, be sure to have 8-10 questions prepared regarding the process of organizational analysis and problem-solving. Please be sure the questions are open-ended and encourage discussion. As you are conducting the interview, focus on obtaining insight into analysis and problem-solving strategies and learning to network and collaborate in the area of analysis and problem-solving. Be open to asking follow-up questions that might not necessarily be planned in advance but that arise out of the answers from your interviewee. This will be especially helpful if your interviewee's answers are not as detailed as you might like.

Some example questions are:
