"Design A study"
You need to select an analytical research question of your choice in the format of "Is there an association between E (exposure) and O (outcome). A Study in Saudi Arabia". The research question must be answered using at least two of the following observational designs: cross-sectional, cohort and case-control studies. The research question MUST be different from that of your own graduation thesis and also MUST be different from the research question you are working on for Sunday course. This is not a proposal.
You need to select two study designs to answer your research question:
Your assignment should be composed of two part: Part A (Design 1), Part 2 (Design 2).
The Headings for each part should be as following and you should prepare
1- The research question which should be in the format "Is there an association between E (exposure) and O
(outcome). A Study in Saudi Arabia". This statement should be the same in both assignment parts
2- Justify why you think this research question is important to answer for Saudi Arabia with full details and references convincing the reader of the importance of your research objective.
3- The study design: Select only one of the following designs in each part: Cross-sectional, case-control, retrospective cohort or prospective cohort. So total of two designs you will select in total, one for part A and one for part B
4- Why you selected this design?
5- What is your operational definition of the exposure and how many categories or will it be numerical? How will you measure it and when?
6- What is your operational definition of the outcome and how many categories or will it be numerical? How will you measure it and when?
7- What are your confounders and how will you measure them and when?
8- How are you going to select your study sample? From which population in Saudi? What type of sampling technique will you use? What are the eligibility criteria to be a member of the study sample?
9- What types of bias you are expecting to encounter while doing your design and how will you avoid them in your design?
10- How are you going to control for confounders? Will you control for them in the design or in the analysis of in both?
