Please prepare PowerPoint slides by using information as provided below. However, please note that the information provided is not exhaustive, and may require alterations/additions depending on the scope and content of your Capstone.
Kindly bear in mind, the information relates to the defense of your Capstone, and hence, it is not treated as a presentation. You are not expected to present your topic or delve deep into the arguments. The jury members would have already read and assessed your dissertation and would most certainly be familiar with the substantive aspects your dissertation. However, the time allocated for Oral Defense (15-20 minutes) should be utilized to underscore the experiences/processes you have encountered while writing your Capstone. The amount of information presented should correspond to the time allocated for the defense presentation. Ensure the internal and external quality of the slides, and make certain there is integrity of information, as well as integrity in appearance of the slides. Slides should be readable and professional-looking. PowerPoint provides a framework for the presentation, but it should not become the epicenter of the dissertation defense.
PowerPoint Slides/Oral Defense should reflect the following:
Title of the Capstone: Includes the candidate's name, department, programme of study, and date.
Introductions: The candidate introduces self and enumerates their academic and professional qualifications/experiences. What the candidate is currently studying for, and the related specialization is clearly mentioned. This section demonstrates clearly to the audience, the eligibility of the candidate to write and defend a dissertation. (This section does not introduce the topic)
Acknowledgments (if any): Include the names of the dissertation Promoter and others who have contributed to the dissertation. Candidate should speak briefly about the contributions of each to the success of the work. Topic Selection: Candidates may describe to the jury members and attendees why they chose their research and what informed that decision: The focus should be on how the researcher arrived at their topics; why is the topic relevant/interesting, and why is it worth conducting an academic investigation.
