Problem

In Case Study, we came to the following hypotheses: The client is experiencing two musculoskeletal complications: (i) possible total dislocation (subluxation) of the operative hip as evidenced by right leg shortening, right leg rotation and acute pain, and (ii) neurovascular compromise in the left foot as evidenced by it being cooler and paler than the other one and absence of pedal pulse in left foot. The client's elevated vital signs and restlessness are most likely due to acute pain. The client's abnormally high FSBS value is most likely due to stress of surgery/trauma, especially for a diabetic. Based on our hypotheses above, we established four desired outcomes for this client: 1. Have adequate perfusion in both lower extremities 2. Re-establish proper positioning of right surgical hip 3. Have adequate pain control 4. Have an FSBS within normal limits. Now, think about the above desired outcomes...and think about possible solutions that could lead to these desired outcomes.
