A gasoline engine is converted to run on propane. Assume the propane enters the engine at 25?C, at the rate 40 kg/h. Only 90% theoretical air enters at 25?C such that 90% of the C burns to form CO2, and 10% of the C burns to form CO. The combustion products also include H2O, H2 and N2, exit the exhaust at 1000 K. Heat loss from the engine (primarily to the cooling water) is 120 kW. What is the power output of the engine? What is the thermal efficiency?
