A stone is attached to a massless string and it is moving around a loop on a horizontal plane at a constant speed Vt. There is no friction between the stone and the surface. At some moment, the string is cut.

1. Draw a free body diagram of the stone a moment before the string is cut.

2. Draw a free body diagram of the stone a moment after the string is cut. What is the total force acting on the stone after the string is cut?

3. Looking at Newton's first Law, state what is the trajectory of the stone after the string is cut. What is the shape of the trajectory? What is the speed of the stone as a function of time?
