A point charge Qpt= 10nC is surrounded by an insulating material and stuffed inside a spgerical steel shell iwth inner radius R1=1cm and outer R0=2cm; the steel shell is then selded shut and rubbed with an unknown furry substance to give it a netcharge of an unknwon sign. Electric field measurements at a distance of 1m from the center of the shell show that the field a r=1m ispointed radially outward with magnitude of 50N/C.
a) Sketch the distribution of charge on the steel shell , including all surfaces.
b) What is the net charge of the steel shell, Qs?
c) What is the net charge if any on the insude surface of the shell?
d) What is the net charge if any on the outside surface of the shell?
e) To solve part b did you have to assume that Qpt is perfectly centered in steel shell? Explain why or why not.
A sphere of radius R is uniformly charged to a total charge of Q. It is made to spin about an axis that passes through its center with an angular speed ω. Find the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the center of the sphere.
A resistor is in the shape of a cube, with each side of resistance R . Find the equivalent resistance between any two of its adjacent corners.
