A child makes a "raft" by inserting a pin perpendicularly into the flat surface of a cork with diameter D. The cork is set afloat in a bathtub, with the pin on the underside. What is the maximum height h of the pin if its tip is completely hidden from view when observed from above the surface of the water, at any angle? Express you answer in terms of D and the index of refraction for water, nw. Assume that the pin is much longer than the part of the cork submerged in water.
