A heat pump uses r134a as the refrigerant to keep a heated space at 20°c by pumping from a geothermal water source. Water from the geothermal source enters the evaporator (a heat exchanger) at 50°c and leaves at 40°c at a rate of 0.08 kg/s. The refrigerant enters the evaporator at 12°c at a quality of 15% and leaves as a saturated vapor. The compressor for the cycle consumes 1.5kW of power.

What is the rate of heat supplied to the cycle by the geothermal source?

What is the mass flow rate of the refrigerant in the cycle?

What is the COP of the cycle?

What is the minimum power that would be required by a reversible cycle operating under these conditions?
