We are imaging a field for NASA from a satellite. The field has vertical (sinusoidal) stripes that repeat at a rate of 1 stripe per meter. Our satellite has a CCD sensor (camera) that is 1 cm x 1 cm. This sensor has 1000x1000 pixels. The image on the sensor is (14/ z) as wide and as tall as the actual image on the ground for a height of z meters. What is the highest elevation (z) that can be achieved by the satellite such that the image of the stripes is adequately sampled? Hint: the Nyquist rate applies.
